The following is true copy of an ancient deed, which may
serve to show the concise method made use of by our
predecessors in writing, signing and sealing their law
instruments, viz. . .
This manner of sealing we find was practiced by King Edward
III, when he gave to Norman the hunter,
  The hope and the hop-town
  With all the hounds upside down;
  And in witness that it was sooth
  He bit the wax with his fore tooth.
